What are the markings on a current Colt carry handle (M4 heavy barrel upper with "c" and "keyhole")?

The C is key. The forge mark is likely to be anything; just depending on what forge Colt used for a particular lot----but if Colt made it, it'll have the C on it.

Yup, yours is a Colt piece.

The "C" may or may not be on a Colt one. If it has it, then be glad. We have racks of real ones that most did not have any "C" marking on the carry handle. Now there is a big box full of unused carry handles because CCOs are mounted on the uppers.
Keyholes, Cardinals and square boxes with various numbers and letters are what most sport, with VERY few "C"s.

Does anyone know what the square forge mark means or signifies?

My older M4 upper has "C" and "AF" (looks like AF together).

The carry handle also has "AF".

The carry handle off my 6920 has only the Cardinal forge mark, as does the carry handle off a CMMG upper. I might have told you they were indistinguishable until I looked at them just now. On inspection you can actually see that the machine work is a little finer on the Colt. I suspect both work just fine, though. I don't really know because they're both safe queens.

It's the head of a cardinal (the bird).
