Need Help !

I just bought a M4 chrome lined compleat kit from SHERLUK and these are the problems I found so far.

1-First off the hand guards was of two different types mismatched one had slits while the other had a round peg type with one being about 1/8 inch wider both looked like uppers as both had holes in the tops and a slot for the gas tube.

2-The A 3 upper has the M4 feed ramp cuts but the barrel extension doesn't but was said to be so making a cutout underneath the extension maybe could be fixed ? But could be messed up too ?

3-The bolt carrier wasn't staked at all.

4-Last the barrel wasn't marked chrome or for rate of twist or chamber type ,and the front sight was marked BOM <> 1.

Is this the normal for them ? and what should I expect when getting back to them about all this.

They all was really nice to talk to before ordering ,and when getting to all my questions,

Plus they shipped /packaged real great I ordered late Friday about closing time after they said it was in stock, and shipped it on Monday I received it today.

But was a little surprised after looking at the parts they all looked great just the problems listed above.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First off you did not read the whole post.

Not the first time I seen work like this last time it was Rock River M4 witch had many of the same problems like bolt carrier not being staked, and had a bad canted front sight as well , and it looked like it had not been test fired ether, so it seems sometimes mistakes get passed along.

I also have seen rifles from Colt/ Bushmaster and others each have a bad day now and again seeing I was a gun dealer. and avid gun show goer.

I am sure most RRA and others AR great for the most, and so can this Company be only time will tell or not ?

Still needing info on this company thou for those who know them not just hear say please.

Thanks in advance,

yls

The M4 feed ramp thing is a big deal, cause the situation you described (upper with cuts, BE w/o cuts) can cause failures.

All of the newer round handguards are interchangeable top or bottom, but it does sound like they sent you 2 different brands of HG. Not cool...

I would also make sure and get that BC properly staked asap.

I would call them and see if they can make it right...

Thanks for your input so far, I had hoped for more input but maybe many haven't bought complete kit's from them in the past.

Here's what I have done so far it was after hr's so I left a message in regards to the many problems as I have outlined here so far there are a few other things like lose fitting carrier as well maybe it's out of spec somewhat

But will know something to day If I can make it before there closeting time.

The recite said I had 30 days to return problem stuff if defective or there will be a restocking fee of 15% I think they should pay the shipping as well for a unusable product, I think time will tells if there a stand up company or not.

Thanks for your helps, and please still do post if you had dealing with them before it's a big help.

The barrel is marked "N9C" under the hand guards on top don't know for sure what that means but that's it nothing else on the barrel, and for the chrome job on the cambers and bore is first rate that I can say for sure even if they did not test fire it, Maybe it's a Mossburg Bbl ?

Best to all,

Most guys wanting to avoid problems buy kits from the more reputable dealers that support this board. If there is a problem with these guys, it is usually taken care of pretty quickly.

Every quality manufacture has had a bad item slip thru as you say but some companies thrive on selling the cheap parts (that the quality guys wouldn't even market) to guys that do not have enough experience to avoid them.

As far as your comment "I think time will tells if there a stand up company or not" - they have been around for a long time. In my opinion there are at least 3 older AR parts vendors that have been around a long time that would not be if people did their research and did not sacrifice quality parts in an effort to save $50 or so bucks.

You asked for help so here it is - Send that junky kit back, cancel it from your CC. Take that money and put another $100 or so with it, shop the EE and be happy for the next X years with your qulity parts kit.

SHERLUK has been around for quite a while. At least I remember seeing them at a gunshow in VA about 10 years ago.

Their quality in the past was pretty much on par with the Drasen Clan junk (Model 1, M&A Parts, Nesard, Sendra.) but nowadays even Model 1 and M&A have improved their rep.

Someone here commented that they do some pretty good gunshow business. I don't see how.

Their prices and selection have never been that great to warrant my business.

In NY they are the only AR parts/kits company that comes to our gunshows.

I talked to SHERLUK again today in person ,and they said that they would fix the problems but I went ahead and asked for them just to give me my money back seeing there was so many problems involved,

With one being a potentially dangerous problem with the improper use of a Receiver with M4 feed ramps leaving the ledge underneath when using the non feed ramp barrel extension that was installed.

So maybe I saved someone else some grief down the road by posting this and hopefully help the company gets the assemblers to do the correct job.

I have to say they were courteous in talking with me and I appreciate that a great deal , and right now it's at the UPS office being shipped back.

# One last note they say they never stake the gas key on there bolt carrier's without the customer asking them to do so.

I know I had seen a RRA kit close to the same way at a gun show a few months back it did look like a try but a very light try at that.

Maybe there name means that it's just by Sure Luck that the kit's are right when shipped out.lol

But there was some other good points about them there Bbl's that are M4 type and chrome lined are really nicely done in both the bore and chamber, and I think it's made by Mossburg with the top stamped" N9C "under the hand guards ?

Plus they have very fast shipping as well so for buying parts etc they get the job done fast like the M4 Cl kit with green furnture was only $500.00 plus shipping & handling of 18.00 so the total was $518.00 with them letting me get a M16 carrier groupe as well instead of the semi.

Let me say thanks to all those who posted in response to help me out.

Best to all,

yls

That's just what the sells rep said , and yes it was hard for me to believe as well,

I could see it being left undone if one was to buy the parts individually but not as a complete upper in a kit.....

I have a SBR upper I purchased from them cheap, minus a bcg & hg's. It looks like an AR upper & shoots great. The only reason I no longer use it is because I screwed up & ordered a hbar. Not super high quality gear but it works. I won't buy from them again, however, since they advised me on tx that I was getting a surplus FN upper & I later found out this was typical dealer bs.
