Where did the weekend racing move after Louisville Speedway closed down?

Back years ago I use to go to Louisville Speedway from time to time and watch some of the Saturday night or Friday night racing. But then Louisville Speedway closed, due to all funds went to building KY Speedway I think, or something like that.

So what happened to all those Louisville area racers, where did they end up going? I used to have a lot of fun at the Louisville Speedway because they had such a great variety of racing events all in one night. You'd have figure 8 racing ( CRAZY SOB's if you ask me, but fun to watch ), bomber class, maybe a school bus race thrown in, and then you'd have some serious modifieds or late model events. Good stuff, especially that figure 8.

Anyone know where you can catch that kind of racing now in the Louisville / Lexington area?

I am not sure about tracks in the Louisville , Lex area but Juntion city has been racing on friday nights. Corbin, Burnside on Sat. Most of the tracks in southern KY and norteast TN have not been running at least 5 within 90 miles of me

Thanks, I've seen a race @ the Corbin track before, pretty good. I was just hoping to find a track that offered all the variations that the old Louisville Speedway offered. Dang, sure wish that old place wouldn't have gone by the way side. I don't even like that KY Speedway track that it was shut down for.

I've asked a few people trying to find out, the only thing I've gotten is that several folks were thinking there was some track across the river in Indiana that everyone moved to, but haven't found any info on what track that would be.

There is a track along the BG Parkway down near Bardstown..but thats about as close to Louisville as I know of for the type of racing you are talking about.

Thanks, CbtEngr1. I googled it and found the track in Bardstown, I hadn't heard of that one:

Unfortunately, it's a clay dirt track. I was hoping to find another paved track in the area.

Yep, clay dirt, sorry. Only track I know about at all, even near us. They have done some good advertising in the past and even in little ole Anderson Co. I have driven by it on race nites and seems that they get a good crowd sometimes.

Me, I would like to find a good ole crash-em-up derby somewhere close.

Salem Speedway in Salem, IN, might be a little closer to what you are looking for, paved track.

Alrighty, thanks guys, those are it!

Salem, Indiana's Salemspeedway has the fast track for the late models, super stocks, Arca, etc. And then the Jeffersonville, In Sportsdrome track looks like it has the wild figure 8 stuff.

Big thanks guys.

I've also found a site that shows all tracks in any state and links to their sites.
